1.1. www.flandersartsinstitute.be is a realization by Kunstensteunpunt vzw, Ravenstein Gallery 38, 1000 Brussels (BE), enterprise number 0544.715.970, tel. +32 (0)2 274 17 60. Flanders Arts Institute is the support centre for visual arts, music and performing arts. It is supported by the Flemish Government in the context of the Arts Decree.
Flanders Arts Institute takes data protection seriously. We base ourselves on the law of 8 December 1992 on the protection of privacy with regard to the processing of personal data (hereafter the Privacy Law).
1.2. This Privacy Policy combines with the and gives detailed information on the way in which we process personal data when you visit our website. We recommend that you read both documents carefully.
1.3. Whoever makes use of our website and enters into a professional relation with Flanders Arts Institute employees accepts the provisions of this Privacy Policy. 2. What does Flanders Arts Institute do with your data?
Through the general use of our website we retain a limited amount of visitor data (see 3.1) in order to ensure optimal service. Under no circumstances is this visitor data passed on to third parties.
3. When do we process or use personal data?
3.1 With each visit to this website, a number of common anonymous statistics are kept, among which:
- your IP address;
- the search engine or other website which led you to kunsten.be;
- the pages that you visit on our website;
- date, time and duration of the visit to the website;
- the http response code;
- all the information that you give us voluntarily;
- basic information about your browser and operating system.
3.2 If you register for one or more of our newsletters, you will also be asked to provide some personal information (e.g. email address, first name, name and organization). This information is kept in our contact database. It is always possible to unsubscribe from the Flanders Arts Institute mailing list by following the simple instructions mentioned in the newsletters. When you unsubscribe from newsletters, however, your contact information is kept in our contact database.
3.3 In the development of our services we work with subcontractors (e.g. hosting providers for the website). These companies are established in the European Economic Area and are contractually bound to strictly adhere to the Privacy Policy of Kunstensteunpunt vzw. They only act on the instructions of Flanders Arts Institute and must take the necessary measures to protect personal information adequately.
3.4 Flanders Arts Institute possesses an extensive contact database (CRM). Flanders Arts Institute collects in this database on average only non-sensitive personal data that has already been published publicly.
3.4.1 For personal data that has not already been made public, there are procedures for dealing with them within Flanders Arts Institute. For instance, they are only collected to be used with a specific purpose in mind in the context of knowledge distribution about arts and policy, a core task and mission of Flanders Arts Institute defined by decree.
3.4.2 Flanders Arts Institute does not collect personal data on a large scale, but maintains, when collecting contact information, a clear focus on the arts sector, arts policy and on information of partner organizations and suppliers in Flanders and Brussels.
3.4.3 Flanders Arts Institute does not have lucrative commercial objectives with the collected personal data.
3.4.4. Flanders Arts Institute uses a contact database with an eye on achieving its objectives defined by decree, namely knowledge and community development in the professional arts sector. One of our tasks is to share information and data about the arts sector, including contact details of people in our contact database. We share these contact details only if they are also available publicly elsewhere (e.g. the email address of a business manager of an arts organization, whose address is also visible on the website of that organization), if they do not contain any private information (e.g. a private phone number), and only at the request of another arts or policy professional who needs the data in the context of a non-commercial action. We do not share data with target groups that are not a target group of Flanders Arts Institute.
4. Can I oppose the storing of my data?
4.1 You can always ask free of charge for information about the processing of your personal data. Based on the Privacy Law you also have the right to have your personal data corrected if it is inaccurate. You can furthermore have your personal data removed or you can forbid its use if it is incomplete or irrelevant.

5. What are cookies and how are they used?
On our website we make use of so-called cookies. A cookie is a small file that is sent by the website owner to the hard disk of the website visitor, where it is stored. The address of the visited website is hereby recorded together with some information on the visit that enables us to keep a number of anonymous statistics. Our website only uses cookies of Google Analytics, and we refer to their Privacy Policy for more information.
